One sunny evening in May, we were joined by Lucinda Herbert from Shots TV. She was filming us for a TV series called Unconventional Brits. Lucinda has since told us the episode has had “the best response of all episodes combined”! So thanks to all of you, as ever, for checking it out.
Ready for the Shout (Capricorn Singers 40th Anniversary)
Well this was kind of a big deal. The 40th anniversary of the Capricorn Singers was a chance for the crew to lead the Capricorns, two other choirs and a brass band in a rendition of one of our favourite songs, in the beautiful surroundings of the Spanish Hall in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens. And we performed it in front of Anna Shannon, the award-winning songwriter (and friend of the crew) who created it.
All the shanties people really know (Wellerman, John Kanaka, Drunken Sailor etc), all squished together in one whopping Medley.
Open Rehearsals
So what are our Monday night open rehearsals really like? Well, to the strains of Mike L singing All For Me Grog, they’re a lot like this. Thanks to Joe Gaughan for taking this footage.
